Eastleigh FC have drawn Championship side Barnsley in the FA Cup.
Eastleigh FC will face Barnsley FC in the third round of the FA Cup if they win the match replay against Crewe Alexandra.
The Spitfires come from a home draw against Crewe in the FA Cup and are now forced to do a replay.
If they win against Crewe, Eastleigh would then face Barnsley FC, a side that is currently playing in the Championship.
Mike Green, who plays for Eastleigh since 2011, believes that this is a good draw for the team.
“Obviously we have to beat Crewe first, but if we get through it’s a big opportunity. They
are struggling a bit in the championship, so I think it’s a good draw.
“We don’t know what sort of side they would bring, they are going to be fighting to stay in the Championship and it’s a tough draw for them as well.”
If the spitfires win the replay against Crewe, they can win £50,000 prize money due to TV rights. Defender Andrew Boyce emphasized the importance of the replay against Crewe.
“We’ve got to beat Crewe, it’s a big ask because they are a good side. But there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to get through. It’s possible, so that’s wh
at we want to do.
“It’s a big game, they are a league above us but that doesn’t really mean anything, it’s the FA Cup.”
The fans are ready for another big FA Cup game and will hope to go through to the next round to face Barnsley FC.
