El Clasico 2K19
The El Clasico has produced some outstanding matches over the years.
Such as the 5-0 thrashing Real Madrid received from pep Guardiola’s men in 2010. Or the humiliation of Barca in 2008 when the Barcelona players gave Madrid a guard of honour only to go on and get beat 4-1.
And the two teams meet once more on Wednesday night in the Copa Del Rey semi-final.
The two sides have not faced each other since Barcelona 5-1 victory at the start of the season which ended a short-lived reign of Julen Lopetegui after just four and a half months.
The loss was the fifth in the last 6 matches at the Camp Nou for Real but the team has won there last 4 matches under Solari so will go into the game full of confidence.
Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde announced captain and striker Lionel Messi is however a doubt for the fixture after an injury he obtained against Valencia over the weekend.
“I don’t know exactly what he has. We will have to wait to see what medical staff say. If he’s in good shape, he’ll play on Wednesday.”
The Catalans are also without central defenders Samuel Umtiti who has been out with a knee injury since November.
Real Madrid, by contrast, have a relatively clean bill of health at present, with only Jesus Vallejo and Luca Zidane (both hamstring) absent.
Getting an away goal will be vital and Madrid have scored in each of their last 14 visits to Camp Nou in all competitions.
However, the last time Barcelona failed to score in a Clasico in their own stadium was in2007 so fans should expect plenty of goals.
The second leg with be played at the Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday 27th February 9pm.
