NBA: Lakes slump to third successive loss as Washington win it in overtime

The Los Angeles Lakers surrendered a 17 point lead with one quarter remaining, as Washington came back in overtime to defeat the current NBA champions 127-124.

This is the third consecutive loss for the Lakers, who are on their worst run of the season so far.

The Lakers had two chances to send the game to a second extra period, but both LeBron James and Kyle Kumza missed three point attempts.

Washington Wizards had shooting guard Bradley Beal to thank, as the 27 year old scored 33  points for the Wizards to earn them a fifth win in a row.

Russell Westbrook made a shot inside and was fouled with just over 10 seconds remaining to put the Wizards ahead in the final moments of the game.

Westbrook was a relieved man however, as his missed free throw could have allowed the Lakers back into the game late on.

LeBron James finished with 31 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds as Montrezl Harrell added another 26 points from the bench.

Elsewhere in the NBA there were wins for Miami Heat who beat Oklahoma City Thunder 108-94 and Pheonix Suns who coasted past Portland Trail Blazers 132-110.

The Dallas Mavericks made the most of their eight day rest as they returned to action with a 102-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, whilst Chicago Bulls took advantage of an under strength Houston Rockets with a 120-100 win.
